Taking over a mobile app for FinGlobal Migration
In June of this year, we were approached by FinGlobal Migration to assist them with their app. They said that they needed a mobile app company that could jump straight into working on and maintaining their existing solution.
FinGlobal Migration is a financial services provider, which specialises in helping South Africans to move their money to another country. This could be for people emigrating to other countries, or simply those looking to invest offshore. Either way, FinGlobal Migration needs a secure app that allows their clients to interact with them safely. The business also needed a mobile app company that could continuously ensure that this was the case.
Resolving immediate issues
FinGlobal Migration came to us with an existing mobile app, which needed some attention. Our first step was to talk about the language used to build the app. Thankfully, it was built using React Native, something that we specialise in at Netgen.
This existing app was custom built for the business, but it hadn’t been maintained properly. There were a number of bugs that we needed to resolve quickly. The most urgent was an issue with the app regularly crashing on iPhone 15 devices. The challenge we faced here was getting to know the internal workings of the app quickly and cohesively so that we could create fixes and apply them seamlessly.
Benefits of a mobile app company
Something that came up in our early discussions with FinGlobal Migration was the reason for their switch to Netgen. The original app had been built by a freelancer, and they had done a good job on the development. However, maintenance of the app became an issue. Mobile apps are never finished and just left – they will always need continuous maintenance as technology evolves.
Once the app was created, the freelancer moved onto other development projects and this took up capacity. Maintenance and updates to the existing app fell down the priority list. This is when FinGlobal Migration realised that they needed a mobile app company.
