Work-life balance

Our hybrid model of remote work and office days helps our employees to strike a healthy and positive work-life balance. To keep things running smoothly and to ensure our employees feel supported physically, mentally and emotionally, our management and HR teams maintain open communication. This hybrid model also helps us to reduce our environmental impact by minimising travel \u2013 a nice side benefit.

Education and knowledge sharing

Over the past few years, Netgen has welcomed 15 interns, many of whom have transitioned into full-time roles within the company. We believe that one of the most meaningful ways we can contribute to society in South Africa is by empowering young, talented individuals with the training, skills, and expertise needed to build successful careers in software development through mentorship and hands-on experience.

Corporate social investment initiatives that make a measurable impact

Supporting the arts

The arts are a vital part of what makes our society and culture worthwhile. This is why the company has become regular supporter of the theatre world. The directors will often organise trips to the theatre for staff members to watch and support local productions.

In 2024, Netgen started actively sponsoring events and productions as part of its corporate social investment initiatives. The first was Mr Gay World and, more recently, the new Paul Slabolepszy play, Bitter Winter, in 2025.

Mandela Day

Mandela Day is a massive and important part of the South African landscape. A day where people around the world are encouraged to give back, just for 67 minutes.

Netgen has proudly supported this initiative through donation drives within the company. Netgen employees have generously donated time, funds and food to animal shelters each year. Recipients of these drives include TEARS and Tom Ro Haven.
